How Do You Rent An Industrial Storage Space?

Posted on 26. Jun, 2013 by in Warehousing

There are a few standard steps that must be taken if you want to rent out an industrial storage space. First, you have to look at the space in person to make sure that it gives you everything that you need. If you are going to have the company do warehousing for you, they need to have a setup that supports your products. If they do not, you need to be able to explain what your products will require to find out if things could be reconfigured.

Next, you have to agree on a rental plan. Usually, this comes in the form of a contract for a set amount of time. Most companies will not allow you to use the space on a month-to-month basis since they need to be able to plan and budget for the year. They also need to know in advance when they should start looking for new customers. A month-to-month plan does not give them enough time. You will typically need to sign a contract for the space for a year, though you can find longer contracts if you need them. A yearly contract can also be renewed for many years in a row.

Finally, you need to settle on a plan for the industrial storage space. Do you just need it for storage alone? Are you also going to want distribution services and order fulfillment services? All of this will need to be worked into the contract to find the overall cost of the space.
